1. What Information We Collect
We collect only what is needed to make the app work:

Your Phone Number: Used to create and verify your account via a one-time SMS code. We do not use it for marketing.

Device Token: A unique identifier used solely to send you call and message notifications on your device.

Call & Video Streams: Audio and video during calls are transmitted directly between devices and are never recorded or stored on our servers.

Messages: Messages are delivered to the recipient and stored locally on your device. If a recipient is temporarily offline, the message is briefly queued and deleted once delivered.

Contacts (Optional): Only accessed if you choose to use the contacts feature in the app. Your contacts are never uploaded to our servers.
2. Permissions the App Requests
Here is what Talkey asks for — and why:
- Microphone: To capture your voice during calls. Only active when you are on a call.
- Camera: To send your video during video calls. Only active when you are on a video call.
- Notifications: To alert you when someone is calling or has sent you a message.
- Contacts (Optional): To let you find and call people from your phone's contact list. You can decline this permission and the rest of the app will still work normally.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To verify your identity when you sign up.
- To connect you with the people you call or message.
- To send you notifications about incoming calls and messages.
- To keep the service running smoothly and securely.
We do not use your information for advertising. We do not sell or share your data with third parties for their own purposes.
4. Third-Party Services We Use
We use a small number of trusted services to power the app:
- Google Firebase: Used for phone number verification (OTP) and for delivering push notifications to your device. Google Privacy Policy →
- Call Infrastructure: Used to establish reliable audio and video connections between you and the people you call.
5. How Long We Keep Your Data
We keep your phone number and notification token for as long as your account is active. Call audio and video are never stored. Messages that have been delivered are not retained on our servers.
6. How We Protect Your Data
All communication between your device and our servers is encrypted. Call and video streams between users are also encrypted end-to-end, so only you and the person you're talking to can hear or see the conversation.
7. Children's Privacy
Talkey is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If we become aware that a child's data has been collected, we will delete it immediately.
8. Changes to This Policy
If we make changes to this Privacy Policy, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to check back occasionally.
